They deserve higher photography awards


If the title intrigued you, bet you feel a little insecure about increasing your creative fees. I think at some point someone said that artists shouldn’t be paid and we stupidly chose to believe it. Then we did even more harm to each other by spreading that lie. That is the purpose of this entire video.

Act like a profitable photography business

Hotels and airlines raise their prices according to demand. I would say practically every other brand in the world does the same thing. When something is asked for, prices go up. We read about it in school and although we complain, it is widely accepted as a society. Why is your company not qualified to benefit from the demand?

Why is it difficult for photographers or videographers to raise their prices? When you book a lot, you increase your creative fees. If you undercut the market, raise your rates because we will all lose. When you deliver a great product, increase your prices because you are worth it. You are not a machine and you create each photo as a one-off project. Every wedding, family, product, landscape or newborn photo is unique. This type of adjustment deserves a higher reward.

If we act like a company that seeks profitability, people will treat us that way.

Big budget people hang out with big budget people

If you travel, you are likely to be traveling with friends and family on a similar budget. You dine in the same restaurants and your friends are likely to prefer brands like you. Life is easier this way!

We build bonds through shared experiences like shopping or vacations. Because of this, wealthy people meet wealthy people and budget conscious people meet other like-minded people. Either way can be great, one is just better for your bottom line.

When you sit and eat at the table with friends, you are talking about your life and things that inspire you. Some of my best recommendations come from friends. If your clients are excited about their photo shoot, they’ll talk about it. Since people on a budget hang out, you will be referred to other people on a budget. They will refer you to their big budget neighbors and the list goes on.

The same conversations take place with people who work on smaller budgets. They keep referring you to others on a budget.

Difficult people meet other friends who are difficult. Nice people meet other nice people. This is common knowledge, but we all need the memory.

That is another reason why I am asking you to raise your prices. As you increased your rate you will lose some customers 100%, but that gives new customers an opportunity to step into your life. This is a great thing! Those new customers who agree to your new tariffs will pass your beautiful work on to their friends. It will all work out. Bet on Yourself!

Understand your contribution

Here’s another reason why you should increase these fees. Your work is the future of advertising, whether it’s photography or video. We place images on album covers, magazine pages, billboards, products, social media feeds, and clothing. We start careers with the right bio photo and help people use dating apps to find their first dates based on a flattering photo.

Your skills are so in demand and businesses cannot exist without a photographer or videographer. Wake up! You are in demand and you should pay for it!
