This fall, HEES, in partnership with Aktion Art and Culture Pulse, released an exclusive limited edition set of seven NFTs at the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art in Charlotte, North Carolina. The release marks the first time a US-based museum has premiered a series of NFTs by an American artist. HEES NFTs will be featured in Pop to Now: Warhol and His Legacy through January 2, 2023 in a group show featuring work by Andy Warhol, Basquiat, Keith Haring, Kristin McIver and ThankYouX.

In addition to his large-scale paintings on view in the museum, a screening room will show HEES animations, his seven NFTs on the theme of humanity: “Human”, “Grow”, “No Limits”, “Energy”, “Laws”, “Prisma” and “Life”. . The number seven is at the center of HESS’ artistic practice; There are seven attributes of physicality, seven musical notes in a heptatonic scale, seven prismatic colors, seven is the PH balance of pure water, seven continents. seven oceans divided and seven days a week. These components of life—geographical, natural, and creative—are also reflected in the HEES signature, whose five bars represent time, energy, sight, sound, and physicality. Hints and references to these elements are cleverly coded in numbers and symbolism in the animated works

Accompanied by a quote and musical score from each of the seven NFTs featured on Culture Pulse, “The NFT Arena has given me a new and exciting platform to get my message out there. It’s also given me a lot of new tools to be creative with,” says the artist.

The HEES collection of seven NFTs reflects his journey of self-actualization and healing. The artist’s life changed dramatically when he was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2013. Unable to work and ruined both personally and financially, he went through a period of tremendous hardship and personal transformation during which he rediscovered his passion for painting. His works became central to his healing process, and HEES placed his love, light, will to live, and hope for a better life into them. HEES is fundamentally different from most NFTs on the market as it is committed to reminding people what it means to be human.

In addition, Culture Pulse released two other HEES NFTs that focused on the power of music in relation to its impact on the human experience. The inspirational series of NFTs creates a fully immersive experience rooted in meaning. Originally intended as a photography project, HEES had traveled to hard-to-reach areas with awe-inspiring landscapes such as Joshua Tree, Glamis Dunes, the Salton Sea, a cracked dry lake bed outside of Vegas, railroad tracks near the Trona Pinnacles, and the rocky west coast with his camera. While researching NFTs, HEES decided to rethink this imagery and use it to convey how music transcends all boundaries. “Even the universe has a buzz,” he reminds us. The Power of Music Will Guide You Home consists of a digital film of a guitar moving towards the viewer across water, with effects created in post-production. Poetically, the audio that accompanies the NFT is a strong wind. While “Music Transcends” is a visual and auditory journey through the artist’s mind.
