Riverside Author Susan Straight Discusses New Book, Exhibition – Daily Bulletin


A virtual event on Saturday October 2nd will allow readers to talk to the makers of a new book and exhibition about the people and places in Riverside’s Eastside neighborhood.

Author Susan Straight and photographer Douglas McCulloh will speak about their book More Dreamers of the Golden Dream, which was released on their 2013 Art museum on the riverside exhibition of the same name, according to a press release.

The free event sponsored by the Inlandia Institute, is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Zoom. Online registration is required at: https://tinyurl.com/MoreDreamers

The book contains essays and pictures that continue to record life on the Eastside and pick up where the exhibition left off, the press release said. Saturday’s discussion will include a look at the updated exhibit, which will be on view at the Riverside Art Museum from October 7 to January 2.

The book and exhibition contain new essays by Delphine Sims, daughter of Susan Straight, and new pictures from McCulloh.

Straight is a longtime writer and respected professor of creative writing at the UC Riverside. McCulloh is an artist, writer, and chief curator at California Museum of Photography in Riverside.
