Frequently Asked Questions

How do I book a session?

The best way is to call me! In a world where everything is impersonal, my sessions are highly personal and customized. I find that personal contact, at least by phone, is important to the process of getting to know you and creating something special just for you! If you need to email me for some reason, I will still ask for a phone call. If you don’t “do” phone calls, then I’m probably not the right photographer for you.

How long have you been a photographer?

More than 20 years.

I started my photography career while working for my hometown newspaper back in 1992. I won my first award that year, and went back to school to get a university degree in photography.

What is your style?

I shy away from labels, since most people, even photographers, don’t really know what they mean. My background is photojournalism, but even in my portraits I aim to be a truth-teller. So, my style is Truth.

How long have you been doing wedding photography?

I shot a few weddings while working at the newspaper, and I started my photography business in 2008. I began doing wedding photography exclusively in late 2009, and was selected as Arkansas Wedding Photographer of the Year for the first time in 2010.

How many weddings have you photographed?

By now I have lost count of the number of weddings I have photographed, but it’s somewhere above 70.

How many photos do we get to see from the wedding/portrait session?

It can vary according to the wedding, so I don’t usually specify a number. Since my focus is on providing high-quality images, I proudly show you fewer images than other photographers! Quantity is no replacement for real quality, storytelling images. One good photo can tell a story more completely than 50 bad ones.

That said, the average for portrait sessions is 30-50 photos. For a wedding, the norm is around 300 photos.

Keep in mind that you do not need 1000 photos to tell a story! In fact, with so many, they start to get in the way of the story. I aim for the perfect number! In my earlier life as a writer, I had a reputation for being very clear and succinct. I apply the same principles to my photography.
