There are two couples in the Little Rock rugby community who have been dating for years and are now getting married, and I get to photograph both weddings! Breean and Shanti’s ceremony is in October, which is always a beautiful month for weddings in Arkansas. They are headed to one of my favorite wedding venues, in one of my favorite months … can’t wait!

We chose Argenta for their engagement session, a section of North Little Rock that has lots of cool old buildings. Then we went to the River Trail, to a place I’ve had my eye on for photos for a long time. I think I’ll keep that location just between me and all the other runners, bikers, hikers and urban explorers in town!

Work has been a whirlwind since I got back from the photography convention in early March, but I didn’t want their engagement session to miss being on the blog. The location and the couple are both beautiful!

Like many venues, The Villa Marre includes a portrait session with their wedding packages, and though many brides choose to use this time for bridal photos, it’s also a great idea to use it for engagement photos, like this couple did. This is especially true if you really love the venue. Having this session at The Villa Marre also meant we could go ahead with the session comfortably, even though the weather wasn’t the greatest.

I hope everyone had a very wonderful holiday season! I’ll be sharing more December weddings and portrait sessions very soon. The recent central Arkansas power outage put a dent in my faithful efforts to share photos. I’m now in turbo-catch-up mode, because 2013 is going to be even busier and more wonderful than 2012! I hope that’s true for you as well.

Here’s another couple that I’m delighted to be working with in 2013! Rachel and Andy are getting married at the beautiful Wildwood Park in west Little Rock, so we chose that spot for their engagement session, too.

The fall colors were in full swing when we scheduled the session, and the weather was perfect except for a bit of wind, which blew Rachel’s hair around in the most beautiful way … like some kind of fashion session, or something.

These two are so in love, and it shows. They truly treasure each other, and they laugh a lot!

South Main Street in Little Rock has recently become home to a wonderful little private park that hosts a locally-based farmer’s market; a restaurant that has local, organic, vegetarian and vegan offerings; and other such businesses. The other face of this section of Little Rock is the home of hardcore partying to the wee hours, Midtown Billairds ( or, ahem, so I understand).

It was a great place to go, with its young, hipsterish, artistic vibe. There are some untouched lots that provide a natural backdrop as well.

Only a few more months until I photograph the wedding of this amazing couple. Time flies!

Marisol and Drew were the winners of my Pinterest contest this fall. One of the great things about this contest: finding others who share my vision of what a great engagement session should be. From the very first, it was obvious that Marisol was a great match for my style. She loves to see beautiful and heartfelt expressions of love in photos. When asked to tell what she liked about a photo, she mentioned the couple’s laughter … And the flowers! She obviously shares my love for color and flowers.

It’s challenging, but fun, to try and get an entire guest book’s worth of photos from one location. I have to give a workout to my artist’s eye, and look around for different ways to approach the same location. We didn’t shoot ONLY daffodils, though … we also made the short trip up the road to the Wye Mountain Community Center, a building that I fell in love with years ago while exploring the area with my oldest son.
