There’s a day I’ll never forget. I think I was about nine years old. My sister and I asked to spend the night at my grandmother’s house. On this day, my mom said we could not stay with her.
When I asked why, my mom told me the truth: my grandmother had found a lump in her breast, and she had to go to the hospital to have it looked at to find out if it was cancer.
It was, and I was as worried as only a nine year old can be. Thanks to early detection, after surgery grandmother was able to live cancer free for the rest of her life.
So I was delighted when I found out Orlando photographer Kristen Weaver had decided to donate a day’s portrait session fees to breast cancer research … and to invite other photographers to donate along with her.
On October 11, 2009. photographers from all over the nation and several other countries will offer portrait sessions with 100 percent of the session fees being donated to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
As a participating photographer, I will be offering two portrait sessions on the October 10 and one on October 11. Portrait sessions will be $100 — 50 percent off the normal engagement session rate of $200. You can also schedule a children and family portrait session. Sessions will be from one and a half to two hours long, so we have plenty of time to get great photos. To schedule, go to the Images for a Cure website and click on the Find a Photographer link. Sessions are limited, so don’t miss this chance to get some great pictures and contribute to a worthy cause!
