Jacob and Tiffany’s wedding is only a couple of days away. In the meantime, I wanted to share a fun story from their engagement session.
We went down next to the railroad tracks in the Riverdale area of Little Rock to take photos. There’s a great little metal building down by the tracks in Riverdale. We were doing some photos next to it. The only annoying thing, from my point of view, was the big yellow five-gallon bucket right where it would be in all the photos.
Suddenly Tiffany, who was next to the bucket, looked down and said, “There’s something in this bucket.”
Uh oh.
“Fish,” she said.
Me: “Dead, or alive?”
“Dead, I think.”
Uh oh.
“Do they, you know, smell?”
“Not too bad.”
So we decided to take a few more photos. Then a truck — a really nice, new truck — swung into the gravel parking area.
Great. Are we going to be scolded for using the building? Given a hard time?
A man got out of the truck.
“That’s my bucket,” he said. It took a second for it to register with me.
“Oh,” I say. “That’s your fish?”
“Yes,” he said. Then he launches into a story about catching the fish, then needing to drive into town, and not wanting the bucket to spill into the bed of his truck. Then, (because this is what Southerners do!) he told it again. Sigh of relief. This guy is so nice, it’s unbelievable. He apologized for leaving the bucket there. Finally, he grabbed the bucket, put it in his truck, and drove off.
We grabbed a few bucket- and fish-free photos, one of which Tiffany says is her favorite.
The photo on the right is in the guest book. So, as Tiffany and Jacob’s wedding approaches, a big shout-out to bucket man. Wherever you are. And good luck with the fishing!
