Love Without Limit

Carolyn and Seth have a beatiful story. They lost touch for more than 23 years, and reconnected on Facebook.

It is the second marriage for both of them, so they chose a small ceremony on the top of Petit Jean Mountain. It was held at the Petit Jean gravesite (one of the most romantic places, ever!) last Thursday. The breathtaking view, combined with the couple saying vows that they wrote themselves, made for a memorable and touching ceremony.

Carolyn chose simple but beautiful elements for her wedding, such as her bouquet of gerbera daisies.

Carolyn and Seth wrote their own vows in addition to the traditional vows. A key phrase in both sets of vows was "ad infinitum," meaning "without limit."

Carolyn and Seth both run triathlons, so they have the same watch, which they both wore to the wedding. The bee was just an unexpected guest, happy to find some sweet flowers among all of those rocks.

This is my favorite scene to shoot from the top of Petit Jean, with the curving mountain road and the landscape dotted with farms. This is the first time I was able to shoot it with such an adorable couple in the foreground, though.

I'm convinced that weddings are magic. As we were leaving Mather Lodge on Petit Jean Mountain, with plenty of time to spare, four antique cars drove up. As they went into the lodge, I asked if they would mind if Carolyn and Seth posed with their car. Fred Houston of The Model T Garage in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, actually brought his car up to the drive so we could take pictures.

One final thought: I love how the haze from the cloudy, rainy weather causes the view in the photos to fade off into the distance! This goes so well with the phrase “ad infinitum” that I’m convinced it must have been meant to be.
